The elements of Baddeley and Hitch’s model of working memory are the phonological loop, the visuospatial sketch pad and the central executive.
The phonological loop holds and processes verbal and auditory information, the visuospatial sketch pad holds and processes visual and spatial information and the central executive is responsible for the coordination both verbal and visual information and focusing on the relevant message.

The working memory model proposed by Baddeley consists of the visuospatial sketch pad, phonological loop, central executive and episodic buffer. The visuospatial sketch pad manipulates visual and spatial information such as images and objects. It’s also involved in the process of visual imagery. The phonological loop stores auditory information. The central executive coordinates the jobs of the phonological loop and visuospatial sketch pad. The episodic buffer explains things that that the previous model of working memory couldn't explain (model that did not include the episodic buffer). The episodic buffer first of all can store information and therefore increase the capacity of the working memory. Second of all it connects to the long-term memory allowing access of it.
