A neural network is put together by hooking together many of our simple "neurons," so that the output of a neuron can be the input of another. For example, here is a small neural network:

Neural processing occurs when a number of neurons synapse together to form a neural circuit which is a group of interconnected neurons. Two basic properties of these group of neurons that contribute to neural processing are:
1.) convergence- a number of neurons sending signals to a single neuron
2.) interaction of excitation and inhibitation.
