Re: How is short term memory achieved on the neural level?
There are neurons that respond to specific types of stimuli for ex. face. The information contained in the neural firing to the face(or any other object or experience) is called the neural code for that object or experience. So we may just have met a person and we see this person next day, we are able to recognize he/she thanks to specifity coding-firing of very specifically tuned neurons that are specialized to respond just to specific face. Specifity coding proposes tat here are neurons tht are tunded to repsond just to one specific stimuli (sth we may have only in short-term memory and than we can recognize thanks to neurons).
Whole environment is represented in the nervous system by a neural code:)
