Most patients suffering from this condition have lesions in the right parietal lobe. This results in an inability to focus attention on the left visual field. If, for example, told to draw a face, which is fully visible to them, they will present a drawing of only the right side.
It is important to further state, that if an object is rotated, so that the left side of it is in the right visual field, patients remain unable to recognize the left side of the building. This supports the claim that attention is object-based, rather than location-based.

Patients neglect the left side of the objects even if it is in their right field of view. If attention was location-based, patients would notice the difference if an object was rotated, as it falls to their right visual field. However, if attention was object-based, patients would not notice as the difference as it is located on the left side of the object.
