depletion and restoration of attentional resources
What is the activity that depletes attentional resources most? How best to restore attentional resources?
Re: depletion and restoration of attentional resources
It is thought that a person has a certain cognitive capacity, which can be used for carrying out a wide variety of tasks. What depletes attentional resources most are high-load task- the tasks that are difficult and perhaps not well practiced. Restoration of the attentional resources can be acheived by mastering these difficult tasks and making them low-load tasks. Low-load tasks use up only a small amount of persons cognitive resources and leave room for processing other stimuli that may be present.

Re: depletion and restoration of attentional resources
Paying attention to stimuli and concentrating on them for a longer time is demanding for the attentional resources. When these resources are deplated one expeirences difficulties with concentrating and is mentally tired. Apart from the one mentioned above there are some techinques that were proposed in order to restore attentional resources.
The first one is the relaxation response, which consists of transcendental meditation which is meant to activate the parasympathetic nervous system in order to make a person relaxed
Another comes from Attention Resource Theory and claims that interactions with nature can restore the deplated attentional resources. As there are two types of attention - volountary and involountary, nature allows the volountary one rest while engaging the involountary.
