Re: What are the levels of analysis in psycholinguistic research?
The goal of psycholinguistic research is to discover the psychological process by which humans acquire and process language. The four major concepts are:
- comprehension - how do we understand spoken and written language (understanding sentences, stories, having conversations with each other)
- speech production - how do we produce language (physical and mental process)
- representation - how is language represented in the mind and in the brain (how people make connections between words and phrases and how is it related to the brain)
- acquisition - how do we learn language (as children and as adults)

The levels of analysis in psycholinguistic research can be determined in terms of components of language that are analyzed. Language is a hierarchical system it function on the levels of phoneme, morpheme, word, phrase, clause, sentence and discourse level (text processing).
