Re: What is the function of perception?
Very generally speaking, perception allows us to identify objects and take action within our environment. However, it also provides us with means of acquiring knowledge, storing this knowledge in memory, and later retrieving it in order to accomplish various tasks such as remembering events from the past, solving problems, communicating with others or recognizing someone you recently met. Without perception, these aspect of cognition would not be possible. Therefore, it can be seen as a gateway to all cognitions.

Re: What is the function of perception?
some of the functions of the perception is to integrate the parts of a something (stimulus) as well as integrate or discriminate these stimulus.
The stimulus come from the outside (enviroment) and are 'catched' by our senses (sensation) to be interpreted by the perception.
